ONLINE CONSERVATION IN KASHMIR: FAKE

ONLINE CONSERVATION IN KASHMIR: FAKE
Conservation of natural resources is no doubt a firsthand duty of human beings. Living in a place with rich biodiversity is really a luck favouring and a dream come true for a person deeply interested in nature. As the whole world is nowadays focusing on conservation through different means and ways, Kashmir is also heading towards the same. The concept of conservation especially in terms of wildlife is not limited to books and research papers but most of the Facebook users are well versed with.
While the wildlife Department is wholly and solly working for the conservation of wildlife, the so-called facebook users are engaged in disrupting their dedicated work with their everlasting comments. It is very well said and strictly believed adage that action speaks louder than words. The words texted out of utter ignorance at the cost of conservation is not going to save wildlife. The best means of saving wildlife is nature itself provided the habitat is left undisturbed. Kashmiris have a lifelong habit of imitating others with lightening speed. The irony is that we have not even spared this delicate sector of wildlife. Imitating the western conservationists after watching nature TV channels is one of the reasons for this. The people without knowing the basics and primary objectives of conservation are involved in tackling wildlife conservation. Well, it is not just for fun or spending leisure time on facebook, it has in fact a strong benefit to relish. Yes, the monetary benefits from the various organizations intended to conserve wildlife. This fake conservation image is not going to help wildlife at any cost. The sloganeering and campaigning in favour of wildlife through facebook can’t save nature from further degradation.
Awareness, no doubt is a pre-requisite to conserve wildlife. The participation of civil society in this noble cause is must.
